Since 2015, Grand Ballet Vancouver has dedicated itself to bringing the most proper Vaganova ballet training to Vancouver.

As the Artistic Director of the school and the only ballet instructor in all of Western Canada with legitimate ballet educational training from the famous Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia, Mme. Yeu Jung Lee strives to provide Vancouver’s young ballet talents with education that matches the world-renowned academy. Her incredible teaching and coaching have led her students to become today’s star dancers in world-class companies, such as American Ballet Theatre, National Ballet of Canada, Stuttgart Ballet, Ballet Nacional Sodre (Uruguay), Dutch National Ballet, Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Orlando Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, Korean National Ballet, and Universal Ballet of Korea.

The Royal City Youth Ballet has been in existence as a non-profit organization since 1989 and entering our 36th season!

Although we are not a dance studio, we provide dancers from studios across the Lower Mainland with the opportunity to be a part of full-length staged ballet productions.  In addition to our annual presentation of The Nutcracker, we have other productions we have done such as Coppelia and Cinderella.

Right from auditions, rehearsals, and culminating to the final curtain call dancers have enjoyed complementing their studio work with our Artistic Team and teachers, built lasting friendships, and whether with us for a single year, or many, look back fondly on the memories and dance experiences.

VBS PRESENTS:

 

Heather Ogden is a powerful dancer of extraordinary depth and range and she has performed nearly every lead role in the classical repertoire – including Swan Lake, the Sleeping Beauty and Romeo and Juliet. She has an extensive George Balanchine repertoire and has danced in many contemporary works, including new creations by such choreographers as Alexei Ratmansky, Christopher Wheeldon, Wayne McGregor, Crystal Pite and Jorma Elo.

VBS is so fortunate that she has agreed to teach a Master Class and to perform for us at For the Love of Dance 2024. Our fundraiser is a wonderful opportunity to see an extraordinary dancer in an intimate setting, and the Master Class is a chance for young dancers to learn from Ogden’s talent.
