Vancouver Ballet Society Celebrates Emerging Dance Talent and Scholarship Alumni at Showcase 2026
Fifteen young scholarship recipients share the stage with professional dancers and acclaimed choreographer Cori Caulfield, herself a former VBS scholarship recipient.
The Vancouver Ballet Society (VBS) is pleased to announce Showcase 2026, an afternoon celebrating the artistry, dedication, and achievements of some of British Columbia’s most promising young dancers. Taking place on Sunday, November 29, 2026, at the Scotiabank Dance Centre’s Faris Theatre, the event will feature performances by 15 recent VBS scholarship recipients alongside special guests from Vancouver’s professional dance community.
Showcase 2026 brings together emerging dancers and established artists, highlighting the important role that scholarships, mentorship, and performance opportunities play in nurturing the next generation of dance talent.
Among the featured guests is acclaimed Vancouver choreographer and performer Cori Caulfield, a former VBS scholarship recipient whose artistic career reflects the lasting impact of supporting young dancers. Her return to the VBS stage offers a meaningful connection between the Society’s past and present scholarship recipients, demonstrating how early opportunities can contribute to a lifelong career in dance.
The program will also feature five dancers from Coastal City Ballet, a Vancouver-based professional ballet company, including another former VBS scholarship recipient. Their participation further illustrates the connections between VBS’s educational initiatives and the professional dance community.
For the 14 young scholarship recipients, Showcase represents more than an opportunity to perform. It is a celebration of their accomplishments and a chance to gain valuable stage experience while sharing the spotlight with artists who have followed similar paths.
“There is something particularly special about seeing our current scholarship recipients share the stage with professional artists who were once VBS scholarship recipients themselves. Cori Caulfield and our alumni at Coastal City Ballet are wonderful examples of how early opportunities and encouragement can help shape a dancer’s journey. Showcase is an opportunity not only to celebrate the achievements of these talented young artists, but also to recognize the importance of investing in the next generation of dancers.”
— Clare Venner, Board Secretary, Vancouver Ballet Society
For decades, the Vancouver Ballet Society has supported dance education and artistic development through its annual Spring Seminar, scholarship programs, and initiatives connecting aspiring dancers with accomplished artists and educators. Showcase 2026 continues this tradition by recognizing emerging talent, celebrating the achievements of former scholarship recipients, and bringing the wider dance community together.
Members of the public, dance enthusiasts, families, and supporters of the arts are warmly invited to attend.
